Coleco Adam review

Excellent video review of the Coleco Adam. It was actually my first computer. I mostly used it for high school homework and programmed primitive games with AppleBasic. We never had any problems with the cassettes. But, they spun much faster than cassettes for other computers at the time. It was a "high speed tape drive!" The word processor that came with the system worked very well.

However, that printer is the loudest daisy wheel on the entire planet. I took the Adam to college and tried to use it for my papers there. However, when I was a sophomore, one of the letters broke on the daisy wheel. I searched all over Gainesville, Florida, for a compatible daisy wheel and had no luck. I switched to using IBM PCs at our computer labs and never looked back. After I graduated, I attended a couple of ADAM user groups in the D.C. area. The participants were valiantly trying to keep their platform alive and did amazing things with the CP/M operating system. However, I was focused on PC computers by that point and we eventually donated the two ADAM's we had in our household.
