Intellivision Origins?

Help me out guys.

I know I read on a game board within the past year that Mattel had an outside firm develop the Intellivision architecture, and thought for sure it was a company like Spectrum that sold a PC in the early 80's.

Does this ring a bell with anyone, and can you point me to a source for this information?

Thanks, TrekMD. Yah, like most of the early accounts I found on a Yahoo search, nothing is really mentioned about an outside company helping Mattel with the development of the Intellivision architecture. I don't think I am imagining, but this is driving me nuts.

In 1978 engineering on the Intellivision video game system begins at Mattel Toys in Hawthorne, California. Programming of operating system and games is farmed out to APh Technological Consulting in Pasadena.

So I guess APH Technological Consulting, might be a start.
