Do you 'need' all ports of a given game?

You know, like Popeye on 2600, INTV, 5200, CV, and NES? Or does just one or two translations suit your tastes?

I find myself liking the different 'flavors' that the different classic consoles give, so almost always pursue all ports. The only exceptions are where one or two ports are considered rare and are pricey.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

My position on this has changed over time. It used to be that I'd be happy with one home version but over time I have started collecting the different translations for certain titles because I like the nuances of each translation for any given console. Ms. Pac-Man is a perfect example as I have that title for the 2600, 5200, 7800, and Lynx. All versions are great and have their own flavor. Other titles that I have multiple versions of that I remember off the top of my head are Pac-Man, Missile Command, Asteroids, Defender, Mr. Do's Castle, Venture, Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr.

Great question sloan! I also enjoy having the different versions. For me it alllows me to play the same game and not get bored if I change the system I play on every so often.
