Orphaned Manuals

What did kids do with these things? I see PSX and Sega Genesis games at thrift stores, in cases, but minus manuals. Why?

Because I collect only complete PSX games, I have to pass up titles I do not yet have in my collection. Too bad some web site did not exist where a person could buy manuals and inserts for incomplete games.

Some people don't think manuals are important and they just let them disappear or they simply trash them.

I can understand where games were sold in cardboard boxes, and maybe it all got thrown out together at some point in time, but where games originally sold in plastic clamshells or acrylic jewel cases it doesn't make much sense. It's not like they threw out the packaging because the plastic case is still there, but somehow the instruction manual got lost? It really is the worst with PSX, Sega CD, Saturn, and Dreamcast games, where the front of the manual was used for the jewel case front artwork as well. When those manuals go missing, it is highly noticeable, to say the least.

All I can say is one word: carelessness.

I have a few Sega CD's and Saturn games without manuals. Plus a bunch of loose Atari, Coleco, Intellivision, Genesis, Nes and Super Nes games. What I find amazing is how much the manuals can fetch in price. Making it almost impossible to complete the games.
