So, anyone has plans to get the new Atari Flashback 4 that is going to be released? I'm thinking I may get a set of paddle controllers. They are brand new and supposedly better built than the originals.

Paddles sound nice. When purchasing the Flashback 3, I bought into the hype of the SD card slot only to find out it did not exist. Even store flyers included it in their ads. So I was really disappointed when I bought one.

The lack of Activision and Imagic games is also a let down.

I like that they are releasing additional controllers for this one separately. Amazon already has the paddles listed...I'm hoping the price will drop. I have the Flashback 1 and 2 and don't really need the 4.

They are neat little systems if you do not already have the original hardware. So that makes them worth the price.

If you do have these games already then I guess the question is how many Flashback console's do you really need.

I thought the same, since I already have FB1, FB2, and FB3. The difference maker for me is that FB4 will have Tempest. That makes this a must own for me.

I didn't know there were other versions of VCS Tempest. Really, it amazes me that they have included it with FB4 because I read somewhere that Atari's own attempt to program Tempest for VCS were horrendous and they ended up calling the whole project off. Because of that, I am guessing this is maybe a homebrew version of VCS tempest on the upcoming FB4 system.

Interesting. I have seen the attempted 2600 game, so it'll be interesting to see what version they include here. I can tell you the Space Invaders they are including looks nothing like the 2600 version but, rather, like a new port of the game that is arcade quality.

So what did it look like? Even remotely close to legible graphics?

That's actually pretty decent, reminds me somewhat of the job Parker Bros. did with Gyruss on VCS. If that is the version on FB4, I will be happy.

Well, you'll have to let us know if it is indeed this version on it! May be worth getting just for that!

It would be nice if the FB4 is different enough to make the purchase.

I haven't, though I saw them at a local Dollar General. They were priced at $40. I'm more interested in the paddle controllers! Smile

Laughing That is funny! I was looking at a Dollar General sales ad. Thought I would ask after seeing their flyer.

I picked up one at Kroger a couple weeks ago for $29.99. Haven't even taken it out of the box to try out Tempest yet.
