Crazy Kong or Donkey Kong?

My friends used to tell me about playing Donkey Kong and making it to the Pie Factory level. I though okay maybe there is a hidden level I do not know about.

I mean Donkey Kong has Girdders, Rivets, Elevators and the Cement factory. Then playing Mame one day I tried Crazy Kong. It had one level that looked like a Pie Factory. Thought maybe this is the game they played.

I kinda prefer Crazy Kong as a change of pace. It will never replace Donkey Kong but it actually was a good knockoff.

Anyone else play Crazy Kong or have any thoughts about which game is better?

I've never played Crazy Kong but I was aware it existed. Maybe it is time to check out videos on YouTube.

Yes, have you heard of Crazy Gorilla? It is a DK clone on the BBC Micro.

No I had not but I like the looks of the game.

The BBC Micro has fairly good looking arcade clones, none of which have names that would make you think of the original arcade game. I guess that's how they got around the licensing issues. Take a look here:http://www.bbcmicrogames.com/

I see what you mean! Snapper looks really good as well as Meteors.

When I seen Monsters! I knew I had played something similar on the Colecvision.

What system/computer was Crazy Kong released on? Sounds like the type of knockoff name that would have appeared on Emerson Arcadia 2001 or some Brazilian VCS clone.

As far as I know Crazy Kong was only in the arcades. Different colors and screens were changed a little.

I agree with onthinice, I don't recall ever seeing Crazy Kong in anything other than arcades.

Something occurred to me: Donkey Kong has the pie factory level in its arcade incantation along with some home ports. So, OP's friends may well have been talking about Donkey Kong and not Crazy Kong. Cement/pie factory is one and the same level, just that some call it by one or the other name.
